Nicole comes to visit!

My best friend from 6th grade came to visit Austin with her family. Nicole had come to Houston to run the marathon and came over to Austin to spend two nights with us. Monday was MLK day and the kids had off so we spent the day being tourists in Austin! We started with a great brunch at Kerby Lane Cafe, then headed to Mt. Bonnell to check out the views.

Then we headed downtown to Zilker park where the kids played on the playground, we took a ride on the Zilker Zephyr train complete with entertainment, and we checked out Barton Springs and the crazy people swimming in it despite the cold.

We then headed to get a snack and drinks at Shady Grove.

Our final stop on the Austin tour was the Capitol grounds and building.

It was so fun getting to spend time with Nicole and getting to know her kids, Justin, Maddox, and Savannah, and her husband, Jason. Hopefully it won't be another 15 years before she gets back to Texas!

Happy 4th Birthday, Nathan!

We celebrated Nathan's 4th birthday at our favorite bounce house, Hop N Happy. He had a fun time bouncing with 29 of this friends and eating pizza and cake.

And later that evening we went to dinner at Nathan's pick "the place where you drop peanuts on the ground", or Texas Roadhouse. And after the kids went to bed, Dave and I celebrated raising Nathan for 4 years!

Hockey Game Sleepover

Girl Scouts had an event at the local hockey game that included game tickets, learning about Girl Scout cookies after the game, and the a sleepover on the ice! It was such a fun experience, although late night and early morning. The game was over around 9:30pm, the cookie event went from 10pm-12am, then they played a movie until 2am and woke us up to go home at 6am! Little sleep, but lots of fun!

Flag Football

Isaac has been begging to play football for a while now. We found a winter league that fit pretty perfectly between soccer and they only have practice and games one day a week, both on Saturday. He of course loves it and of course is pretty good. The second week he led him team to win by scoring multiple touch downs and getting a pick 6 (that's a touchdown return after an interception). We'll see how long football lasts, as I can't imagine him playing tackle, he's too little!!

Happy 9th Birthday, Allison!

We celebrated her actual birthday with her favorite home cooked meal (ribs), brownies for dessert, and presents!

Sunday, December 31, 2017

We hosted a sort of impromptu new years eve party this year with a few friends and their kids. We had champagne (of course), food, brief snow flurries, all the kids making it to the midnight countdown, adults playing games until 3am, two families plus kids spending the night, and tons of fun! Happy 2018!

Allison's 9th Birthday Party

Allison decided she wanted to have a sleepover birthday party this year for her birthday. So she invited 5 friends over for the night. The theme of her party was Winter Wonderland. She made all the paper snowflakes to decorate the house!

They started off the night decorating aprons and then cutting, baking, and decorating cookies, with a pizza break in between to let the cookies cool.

Four of the five girls then stayed the night for popcorn, movies, and giggling until almost 1am!

They slept in until 9am, had donuts and sugar cereal for breakfast, and then headed home. Allison had a great time at her party!
